Event overview
The Saint Marys Lake Trail Series is a trail race set for February 28, 2026, in Leonardtown, MD at Camp Cosoma Road. The series offers three distances:
- 50K
- 34K
- 17K
The event uses a roughly 10.5 mile loop run one, two, or three times to make the listed distances. The venue is centered on Saint Marys Lake, a 250 acre freshwater lake with a 7.5 mile main route and about 8 miles of additional trails in the adjacent Salem Forest. The race is limited to 100 participants across the three distances.
Course and logistics
The route is mostly natural trail: about 75% single track (dirt, roots, rock, wooden bridges), 20% forest road, and 5% crushed gravel along the dam. Each lap includes several small hills totaling approximately 500 ft of elevation gain and descent. A GPX route file is provided and trail markings will be present. The trail remains open to the general public during the event and other users such as mountain bikers, walkers, leashed pets, and horseback riders may be encountered.
Aid and support include a main staffed aid station at the park entrance and a second aid station near the Salem Forest parking lot on Indian Bridge Road. Food and drinks will be supplied at aid stations and the finish, drop bags are allowed, and porta potties are provided at the secondary station. A small day use service charge applies at the park entrance. Refunds are not issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
