The 22nd Sandia Snowshoe Classic takes place on January 24, 2026, at Sandia Crest. The event is a 5K snowshoe race on trails in the Cibola National Forest. It is presented by the Friends of the Sandia Mountains. Organizers note the course has recent snowfall. JackRabbit Race Management will provide timing. Parking at the Crest is limited, so carpooling is recommended.
Entry and logistics
The event is limited to 175 participants and is open to ages 13 to 99. The registration fee is $45 and includes refreshments, swag, the Crest parking fee, and the processing fee. There are no refunds, no rescheduling, and no transfer of entries. No race day registrations are available. Bibs and giveaways are distributed at race day check in; there is no pre-race packet pickup. Participants must bring their own snowshoes; local shops offer daily rentals. Gifts are planned for age group winners, and cash prizes are planned for the top three male and top three female overall finishers. All proceeds support the Friends of the Sandia Mountains for trail preservation and maintenance and other U.S. Forest Service resources.
