SARR Great Greenway Marathon Relay
The marathon relay is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, in San Antonio, TX. The event covers a total of 26.2 miles as a point-to-point relay on the Howard Peak Greenway System. Teams must have between 2 and 5 runners; the event is open to ages 14 to 99. Registration fee is per person and the listed price is $45. All team members must register separately and either create a team or join an existing team. Shirts are guaranteed only to the first 500 registrants who register prior to January 25. Discounts apply for SARR members, younger and older runners, and military entries under the conditions shown in the event information.
Course, logistics and rules
The course starts at the Mainland Trailhead off Bandera Road and finishes at the McAllister Dog Park trailhead. There are five relay legs that range from 4.5 to 6.5 miles and handoffs occur at Fox Park trailhead, The Rim Trailhead, the 1604 Trailhead, and Walker Ranch Park. A complete map and instructions will be provided to teams. There is a 7-hour time limit for the marathon relay course.
Race rules require each runner to carry the team baton; the fifth-leg runner must wear the red race bib. Teams that use a baby stroller or run with a pet are not eligible for awards. All packet pickup must be completed before race day and one person may pick up for a whole team; batons are distributed at the start line. Water coolers will be at each relay spot plus Hardberger Park, Eisenhower Park and Buddy Calk Park; city fountains may not be functioning. Awards are given to top three teams in Junior (14-20), Open, Masters (40+), Super Masters (50+) and an award structure for Non-Binary and best team shirts.
