About the race
Located at Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, Louisiana, Screaming Monkey circles the nearby National Chimpanzee Sanctuary (Chimp Haven) and offers a wild, trail-filled atmosphere as runners pass by the sanctuary bells and park environs. This seventh annual ultramarathon provides 25K, 50K, and 50-mile options, each built on a 15.5-mile loop with about 75% single-track, 12% wide rolling equestrian trails, and 11% gravel/road.
Expect roughly 1,100 feet of elevation change per loop. The 50-mile race consists of three loops plus a bonus 5K. Amenities include aid stations at Start/Finish, miles 5, 9, and 14, drop bags, camping, and a Chimp Haven tour; veteran discounts apply.
