Screaming Monkey - Keithville, LA
The Screaming Monkey race, held annually at Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, Louisiana, offers challenging trail running distances of 25K, 50K, and 50 miles. The course loops around a National Chimpanzee Sanctuary, allowing runners to hear primates during the race.
The 15.5-mile loop features about 75% technical single-track trails, rolling red-clay hills, pine-straw-covered terrain, and a ravine section, with approximately 1,100 feet of elevation gain per loop. Aid stations and drop bag access are available. A unique feature includes an optional semi-private tour of the chimpanzee sanctuary.
