Scrub Jay Races
The Scrub Jay Races, held annually at Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, Florida, feature a 5K and a challenging "Scramble" 10K trail run. The 5K course is mostly on paved and crushed shell paths with some trail sections, designed for road runners who want a taste of nature. The 10K Scramble offers a more rugged trail experience with sugar sand, elevation changes, and park underpasses and overpasses, appealing to trail running enthusiasts.
Both races finish near the Nature Center, where a post-race party with food and snacks awaits. Virtual 5K and 10K options are also available, allowing participants to run anywhere during January. All finishers receive custom medals and tech shirts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
