Event overview
The Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay is a relay and bike event on March 21, 2026. The route covers 51 miles, starting in Selma, Alabama, and ending at the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. The event is presented by the Civil Rights Race Series to commemorate the 1965 march. A 12-hour completion time for the relay and bike ride will be strictly enforced. Virtual versions of the run and bike ride are also offered.
Registration and logistics
Entry types include team relay, solo runner, in-person bike ride, bike ride with transportation, and virtual run or bike ride. Regular and late registration windows and different fees are listed for runners, cyclists, and virtual entries; fees range from $60 for virtual entries to $160 for cyclists with transport during regular registration. Team registration requires a team captain to create and pay for the team. Package pickup for relay teams and cyclists is scheduled the day before the event at the Montgomery Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
