Event details
The Shelter for Help in Emergency 5K Run/Walk for Shelter is an in-person event on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in Charlottesville, VA (Downtown Mall area). This is the 28th annual running of the event. The entry fee is $35. Participants will receive a beanie or hat. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, October 31 (location to be announced). Awards are given to the top three female and top three male overall finishers and to the top three female and top three male masters. All runners are eligible for Grab Bag Prizes at the end of the event; winners must be present to receive a prize.

About the organizer
The event is organized by Shelter for Help in Emergency. Since 1979 the organization has provided services for victims of domestic and intimate partner violence, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, information and referral, resource assistance, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, supportive counseling, outreach to Spanish-speaking community members, and programs for children and youth.
