Slate Run Trail Race
The Slate Run Trail Race, held annually in Slate Run, Pennsylvania, offers a challenging 25K and Half Marathon through the rugged Tiadaghton State Forest. The course traverses the Algerine Wild Area and Red Run sections of the Black Forest Trail, featuring technical single-track trails, stream crossings, and scenic vistas. Both race distances share the first 9 miles, after which half marathoners divert to the finish via road, while 25K runners continue on a more demanding trail including a significant climb on Old Supply Trail.
Strict cut-offs ensure safety, with all participants required to reach the 9-mile mark by noon. The event is limited to 250 runners and emphasizes a tough but rewarding trail running experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
