Event overview

The Sleeping Giant Trail Runs take place on March 29, 2026 at Sleeping Giant State Park, 200 Mt Carmel Ave, Hamden, Connecticut. The event offers two distances: 25K (one loop) and 50K (two loops of the same 25K course). The 25K loop includes more than 3,000 feet of vertical gain.

Course and race details

Each loop begins and ends at the park pavilion. The first 5 miles are mostly runnable rolling singletrack with a few small technical rock scrambles. At about 5 miles the route includes a steep "head wall" rock scramble gaining roughly 500+ feet in 0.3 miles. The course passes the Chestnut Trailhead, which serves as an aid station near mile 8 and again near mile 12. The route climbs largely on the Quinnipiac Blue Trail to the Observation Tower, then follows the Tower Path, a 1.5 mile carriage road descent, before a short paved approach back to the pavilion. A 25K GPX file is provided for the loop.

Aid stations provide water and Hyle Hydration electrolyte drink and typical food items. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. Finishers receive a specially designed finisher medal from Ragged Cuts; additional sponsor swag and Top 3 overall male and female awards are given. The event has a no refunds and no transfers policy for entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
