Sound the Alarm

Sound the Alarm 5K is a community running/walking event held in Independence, Kentucky, at Independence Fire Station No. 1 (1980 Delaware Crossing). The event offers a 5K Run, 5K Walk, and a Virtual 5K option.

The course is a gentle out-and-back along Madison Pike through Independence’s historic area, with elevation changes under 45 feet. The mission supports first responders’ families, in partnership with the Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945 and Hickory Grove Baptist Church, assisting organizations like Supporting Heroes. Swag bags are included, and there is no race-day signup.

Virtual participants receive shirt and medal by mail, with a downloadable digital bib available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
