Event details
The Swamp Stomper 50k/25k takes place at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in Millington, TN on January 17, 2026. The race is organized as two distance options:
- 50K : 32.6 miles, approx. 3000 ft elevation gain.
- 25K : 16.3 miles, approx. 1500 ft elevation gain.
All finishers receive a custom finisher's medal. The top three male and female finishers in each distance receive custom awards. The event is not for profit and 100% of proceeds go to trail support and the park.
Course and logistics
The course is about 99% single-track and uses the Pioneer Springs Trail (blue blazes), Woodland Trail (red loop), and Chickasaw Bluff Trail (white blazes). The 25K is one out-and-back lap and the 50K is two laps of the same out-and-back. Aid stations are located at approximately mile 3, 4.7, 9.6, 13.3, 16.3, 19.3, 21, 25.9, and 29.6 (not all are used on both distances). Cutoff times are 9 hours for the 50K and 8 hours for the 25K; cutoff times will be strictly enforced.
There is a single drop bag location at the start/finish aid station for 50K runners. Packet pickup is available on race morning at the start/finish in two windows. A Red Loop Challenge offers cash prizes at the Red Loop Aid Station for the first athletes through on designated laps. Volunteers and an amateur radio club support race operations.
