The Backland is a challenging last-man-standing trail race held near the Texas-Oklahoma border at Walnut Creek Resort & Marina in Gordonville, TX. Participants run a 4.5-mile loop called a "land" and must complete each loop within one hour to continue. The race continues hourly until only one runner remains, who wins a $1000 cash prize, a trophy, and a six-pack of beer or root beer.

The event allows only 38 competitors and features mostly trail terrain with some road sections. Finishers receive a long sleeve shirt and beverages, with special belt buckles awarded for completing 100 and 150 miles. Camping and cabin lodging are available on-site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
