Event overview
The Blue 2 Blue Challenge is a 50K trail event in New Haven, CT on May 3, 2026. It is held as an out-and-back that starts at West Rock Playground and follows the blue-blazed trail system. Organizers report a slightly over 80% finisher rate and require entrants to have finished at least one trail 50k in the previous 12 months or an equivalent gnarly race. Registration here is by waitlist and applicants are screened for qualifying races.
Course and rules
The route uses the Westville Feeder Trail, the Regicides Trail (West Rock), and the Quinnipiac Trail. The course includes rocky, technical trail sections, about 6,350 feet of climbing, multiple climbs including High Rock and Mt. Sanford, and a turnaround in Prospect at Cornwall Ave (mile 16.4). Aid stations are listed at approximately miles 4 (water only), 8.1, 11.5, 16.4 (drop bag), 21, 24.5 and 28.5 (water only). The event enforces a strict 10-hour cutoff and intermediate cutoffs expressed as required elapsed-time checkpoints; no pacers or crews are permitted. One drop bag is transported to the turnaround and organizers request small bag size. Distances and mileages are given as approximate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
