Event overview
The Critter is scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Ingawanis Adventure Base, 2482 Grand Ave, Waverly, Iowa. The event offers timed endurance options and a single-loop race. Distances and formats include:
- 12-hour option
- 8-hour option
- 4-hour option
- 10K single loop
Each timed option is offered in multiple divisions, including hike or run and ruck.
Course and logistics
The course is an approximately 10K loop through mature forest with rocky ridges, large pine stands, and a river along the property edge. Each loop gains close to 1000 ft of elevation. The start/finish area is at a historic dining hall with a stone fireplace and wood beam ceilings; participants may leave drop gear and nutrition inside and re-enter through the dining hall on each loop. Aid station provisions include water, electrolyte drink mix, and snacks. Participants are asked to bring personal gels and fuels and not to rely solely on aid stations for the longer timed events.
