Event overview
The Elizabeth Ferris Memorial 5K takes place on October 25, 2026, at Heckscher State Park / Heckscher Park in East Islip, New York. The course is a USATF certified 5K and is routed through Secatogue Lands / Heckscher State Park. The event is hosted by the athlete's family to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer research; 100% of net proceeds will go to The Lustgarten Foundation.
Registration, logistics and amenities
The event offers both in-person and virtual entry options. Virtual participants may upload times and photos from October 25 through November 1. In-person registrants can receive mailed bibs; personalized bibs are available for those who register at least three weeks before the event. Bib pickup is provided on race day.
Awards are given to the top 3 male and top 3 female overall, and to the top male and female in each age group: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Amenities include live/text/email results, free finish-line photos, a memory wall, and cash-only basket raffles. Team registration is optional.
