The Pirate 5k

The Pirate 5k Run/Walk is an annual event held in Lincolnton, North Carolina, starting at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Participants can join a timed 5k or a student 5k for ages 5-17.

The course features a scenic route through the historic town, including the Lincolnton Rail Trail, a 1.5-mile paved path popular with walkers and joggers. Runners pass landmarks such as First Federal Park and the church graveyard, reputedly the resting place of pirate Jean Lafitte under the name Lorenzo Ferrier. The event encourages pirate-themed costumes and concludes with a pancake breakfast.
