Course, cutoffs and logistics
The looped course is made of five legs ranging from 3.2 to 5.3 miles that form a roughly 20.35 mile loop. Runners complete the loop once for the 20 mile, twice for the 40 mile, three times for the 100k (about 61 mi) and five times for the 100 mile (about 101.7 mi). Surface mix is approximately 75% single/double track and 25% jeep roads. Two indoor aid stations are on course. Approximate elevation changes: 20.35 mi ~3,000 ft, 40.7 mi ~6,000 ft, 100k ~9,000 ft, 101.7 mi ~15,000 ft.
Cutoffs are specified by total elapsed hours for each distance (for example, 100 mile and 100k have a 34-hour cutoff). Drop bags are allowed at both aid stations for solo runners in the listed distances (size guideline provided). Pacers must register and are permitted after 40 miles (two loops) for solo 100 mile and 100k runners; pacers are not allowed for the 40 mile, 20 mile or relay entries. Packet pickup, a pre-race meal and a pre-race meeting occur on the Friday before the event. No refunds after registration; distance changes and bib transfers have specified deadlines.
