Event overview
The Spooky Duke is the 15th annual fundraiser that includes a 5k, a 10k, and a costume march, held on November 8, 2025 in Boone, North Carolina. The in-person course takes place on the campus of Appalachian State University at 416 Howard St, Boone, NC 28608. A virtual option is available so participants can complete the distance on a course of their choosing. Event registration closes November 5, 2025; registering by October 29, 2025 guarantees a T-shirt.

Entry fees listed are $25 for the 5k, $30 for the 10k, and $25 for the virtual event. Virtual participants who request shirt mailing pay an additional $6 fee. Updated race maps and USATF-certified 5k/10k maps are provided as a downloadable PDF. Results for the virtual race can be submitted through the RunSignUp system.
Purpose and beneficiary
The event benefits Parent to Parent Family Support Network High Country (FSN-HC). Funds raised support one-on-one family connections, support groups, and workshops for families of children with diverse physical, emotional, intellectual, or health needs, families of children born prematurely, and families grieving the death of a child in the NC High Country counties served.
