The Tick is a rugged point-to-point ultra through Florida’s Ocala National Forest, covering about 57.4 miles (50 miles plus 7.41 mandatory bonus miles) along the Florida National Scenic Trail from Alexander Springs State Park to the Rodman Reservoir Dam. Runners traverse diverse habitats—lakes, prairies, marshes, and tall-growth pine and hardwood forests—on singletrack trail that showcases Florida’s wild interior. The event emphasizes backcountry endurance with a crew-supported format: crew is mandatory, and the longest distance between crew-accessible locations is roughly 10.5 miles.

Runners must arrange transport from finish to start and carry a reliable communications device. It’s a remote, no-frills wilderness challenge with abundant wildlife. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
