Event overview
The Trapp Cabin Trail Races are an annual trail running event held at the von Trapp Family Outdoor Center in Stowe, Vermont. The 16th edition is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026. Distances offered include:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half marathon
The event serves as a fundraiser for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports. The trails used for the races are not usually open to the public.
Course, registration and awards
Runners follow Sugar Road onto Russel Knoll Track. The 10 km course continues on Chris’s Run to the Cabin, then uses single-track trails named Growler, Tapline, and Lodge Spur to the finish. Half marathon entrants complete two laps of the 10 km loop. The 5 km route diverts onto Old County Road and joins Tapline and Lodge Spur to the finish. Walkers are welcome on the 5 km course.
Organizers use the Run the Day system for registration and timing. Registration opens February 1 and closes on September 20 at 5 pm ET; day-of registration is available. Published fee ranges are youth $30 to $50 and adult $60 to $90. Medal presentations are held for the top female and male finishers of each distance, the top three in each category receive a pair of Darn Tough socks, and all participants receive a participation medal and refreshments.
