Event
The Turkey Trek Sherman is a Thanksgiving day trail running event on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Herman Baker Park, 2500 W. Center St., Sherman, TX 75092. Distances offered:
- 10K Turkey Trek
- 5K Turkey Trek
Participants receive a Turkey TREK beanie. Awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall for men and women, an Old Timer award for top 50+ male and female, and a DFL (Dead Freakin' Last) award. Aid station hydration and snacks are provided.
Course and logistics
The course uses sections of the Binkley Trail and Herman Baker Lake Trail. Surfaces include technical rock and dirt single track, rocky and rooty trails, and bridges. The start and finish are near the Herman Baker Park main parking lot; parking is in the main lot. The event is cupless - participants should bring a cup or bottle because cups are not served. Historic late November average temperature is listed around 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees C).
Registration and policies
Registration closes at midnight the day before the race or when participant capacity reaches 100; no race day registration is available. Prices increase by date and differ for the 5K and 10K. Runners may receive a full race credit with at least 30 days notice; full refunds are not offered. Credits must be used within one year, with possible extensions for medical reasons or military deployments. Discounts are available for active duty military and first responders with ID.
