Teams face a mix of physical and mental missions rather than a timed individual course. Example missions include land navigation using maps or coordinates to locate waypoints, a ruck drag using a rope or harness to move a weighted load, moving a heavy tire across rough ground, crawling under wire while keeping a candle lit, and transporting a simulated casualty on a stretcher. Each event also adds location-specific challenges.
Finishers receive a finisher t-shirt and a Hurricane Heat wedge; wedges are issued for 4-hour, 12-hour, and 24-hour completions and can be combined. The event includes a festival area with music and beer gardens. Teams can register together to secure the same start time and access team pricing.
