The Wapsi Wiggle takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Riceville, Iowa. The event base is the WGWL Trailhead & Welcome Center at 110 East Main Street, Riceville, IA 50466. The event includes timed races on a paved trail that passes through farmland, woods and restored prairie.

Race features and services
Both the half marathon and the 5K are timed and use out-and-back courses starting at the WGWL Trailhead & Welcome Center. The half marathon awards medals to the 1st and 2nd place overall male and female finishers. The 5K awards medals to first and second place male and female finishers in these age categories: Under 18, 18-25, 26-35, 36-49, 50-64, 65+.
There is a free kids 1/2 mile fun run for children 10 years and younger; no fee or registration is required. Registered participants receive free all-you-can-eat pancakes with sausage. Non-registered participants are charged $7, and children 4 and under are charged $3; meals are served in the lower level of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church one block southeast of the WGWL Trailhead.
