Wild in the Woods - event overview
The Wild in the Woods trail race is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Broemmelsiek Park in Defiance, Missouri. The event is presented as the 5th annual edition at this park and offers two trail distances:
- 5 mile (one loop)
- 10 mile (two loops)
Post-race offerings at the Hilltop Shelter include a fire pit, snacks, live music, and a complimentary beer for participants aged 21 and over. All entrants receive a custom giveaway that will be announced by the organizers.
Series, registration and logistics
Wild in the Woods is the second race in the Big River Trail Series. Series points are tallied for runners who participate in three of the six series events, which include the Wild in the Woods distances, The Skippo events, and the Castlewood Cup. Packet pickup is available before race day at Big River Running (Town & Country, MO) and on race day at the Hilltop Shelter, Broemmelsiek Park (1795 Hwy DD, Defiance, MO 63341).
Regular registration fees listed for the race are $39 for the 5 mile and $49 for the 10 mile. Registration opens June 1, 2025, and the lowest published entry prices apply through November 24, 2025; prices increase after that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
