About the race
AVL Runway 5K takes place at Asheville Regional Airport, Terminal Drive, Fletcher, NC. It is a unique 5K on the airport airfield, running along Taxiway Bravo near Runway 17-35. The course is described as impeccably flat; runners start on a road near the airfield, enter the taxiway, loop to the ends, and return, with aircraft 150 feet to the east.
The event caps at 1,000 participants and has no on-course water stations; racers may carry reusable water. Spectators greet finish-line with a music stage and food trucks. Parking uses shuttles from a designated lot in Arden; packet pickup beforehand. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
