Backyard Ultra - Las Cruces

2025 Backyard Ultra – Day of the Dead, Land of Enchantment takes place at the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument in Las Cruces, NM. The signature format uses a 4.167-mile loop along crushed-gravel trails with some elevation changes, offering scenic views of the Organ Mountain range. It’s a last-runner-standing event: runners start every hour and continue until only one remains.

The course features a clearly marked starting box, cupless aid, hydration, snacks, and on-site tents/camps. Participants completing 24 laps earn a 100-mile buckle; the race is capped at 100 entrants. Finishers receive a hoodie and a Day of the Dead DNF medal, with proceeds supporting SNM Trail Alliance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
