About the race
Bad Ass Backyard Ultra (B.A.B.U.) takes place at Dry Creek Parkway in Rio Linda, Sacramento, California. The event uses the traditional backyard ultra format: a 4.16-mile loop with a new loop starting each hour; anyone not in the start corral at the hour is eliminated, and the winner completes the most yards. Originating in 2023 as an informal run, it became an official collaboration in 2024 between Skybreaker Racing and Auburn Area Trail Runners, now under Singletrack Running.
It is an affiliated Backyard event, offering eligibility for Satellite Team and World Championships; listed on Big's Backyard Ultra site. The atmosphere features a playful 'Hee-haw!' line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
