Bands on the Run 5K
The Bands on the Run 5K is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, in McLean, VA. The event is a 5K out-and-back route that begins and ends at Langley High School (6520 Georgetown Pike) and winds through the neighboring Langley Oaks residential area. It is organized as a fundraiser for the Cooper Middle School and Langley High School band programs. Funds raised support professional sectional teachers, guest clinicians, repair and replacement of instruments, equipment and uniforms, and scholarship funds for students who need financial assistance to participate in band events.
Logistics and registration
Online registration remains open through race day and must be completed online. Registration fees are $45 through March 27 and $60 from March 28 through April 26. Registrants receive a cotton race t-shirt; sizes are guaranteed for participants registered by March 14, and shirts for later registrants are provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Packet pick-up is available the day before the race and on race morning. The event is stroller friendly; animals are not permitted on FCPS property per county policy. Race timing and scoring are provided by Potomac River Running/PR Races. Parking is toward the back of the Langley High School parking lot.
