Blue Heron Hundreds
The Blue Heron Hundreds is an ultramarathon event held in Mooresville, Alabama, at the scenic Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. Scheduled for April 11-12, 2026, it features 100-mile, 100K, and 50K race distances. The course consists of a 15.5-mile loop on soft crushed gravel and dirt roads, showcasing prime birdwatching and wildflower areas, with the 100-mile runners completing six loops.
The refuge is known for its diverse migratory birds, including the great blue heron and endangered whooping crane. Runners enjoy a flat, fast course with well-stocked aid stations. Finishers receive unique medals, with 100-mile finishers earning custom belt buckles.
