Blue Heron Hundreds
Blue Heron Hundreds is North Alabama’s ultra featuring 100-mile, 100K and 50K races at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge near Mooresville, Alabama. The course is a new 15.5-mile core loop run on soft crushed gravel and dirt roads through birding and wildflower viewing areas; the 100‑mile distance repeats the loop six times plus a final 7‑mile segment, the 100K four times, and the 50K two loops. Aid stations offer water, sports drinks, soda, snacks, soup, potatoes, quesadillas, and coffee; port-a-potties are available at start/finish and mid-loop.
Pacers are allowed for the last loops of the longer distances; drop bags and crew access are limited to start/finish. Finisher medals feature a blue heron; overall awards include a belt buckle for the 100‑mile. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
