The race is limited to the first 150 solo entrants. Prize structure includes $5,000 for any individual who sets a new American 50-mile best for their gender and cash prizes for the open division: $300 for first, $200 for second, and $100 for third. There are no refunds and no race transfers. Transportation from the finish back to the start is provided as part of the entry fee.

Course and logistics

The course starts at 91818 Brandt Rd, Sturgeon Lake, MN 55783 and finishes at 1106 88th Ave W, Duluth, MN 55808, finishing beside a converted bank building used as race HQ. About 43 miles run on the Willard Munger Trail, a paved trail described as soft and nearly flat for the first 40 miles, with a downhill finish that drops about 500 feet over the final 10 miles. There are eleven aid stations supplying water, energy drink, cookies, gels, salted nut rolls, various sodas, and other items. The race provides disposable cups and will refill personal reusable cups.

Relay teams use four exchange zones for five legs with distances:

  • 10.95 miles
  • 12.35 miles
  • 15.05 miles
