Course and race logistics
The course uses a 13.5-mile North loop and an 11.5-mile South loop. Runners complete four North loops and four South loops in the order North then South. The course surface includes single track and fire roads and is described as well-marked. Elevation gain is approximately 2200 feet for the North loop, 1150 feet for the South loop, and about 13,600 feet total for the 100-mile distance.
Aid stations are located on each loop with specific stations listed for full support or water-only on the North and South loops. There are course cutoffs at mile 88.5 and mile 100.0; runners who do not meet these cutoffs must turn in their bib and will be recorded as DNF. Pacers are allowed after the third loop (mile 38.5). Crews are restricted to the Cool Staging Area and may assist runners after each loop. Drop bags are allowed at Cool and Knickerbocker. Packet pickup is available at the start/finish area on the day before the race and on race morning. Finishers receive a handcrafted Comstock Heritage buckle, a shirt, and a finisher's medal.
