Course and logistics
Courses traverse Gunnison National Forest using single-track trails through mountain meadows and ridges with lower-elevation wildflowers and fall foliage. Course elevation figures: the 50 Mile course lowest point is 8,822 ft and highest point is 11,291 ft with 8,301 ft of elevation gain and loss; the 55K lowest point is 8,822 ft and highest point is 11,290 ft with 4,567 ft of gain and loss; the 35K lowest point is 8,822 ft and highest point is 9,988 ft with 2,280 ft of gain and loss. The event uses cupless aid stations; runners must bring a reusable cup or bottle for water dispensers at the start/finish and at every aid station. Packet pickup is at Crested Butte Community School on race day; a photo ID is required, entries are non-transferable, and a runner may not pick up another runner's bib.
