Grin & Bear It

The Grin & Bear It is Crested Butte’s oldest trail challenge, held in Crested Butte, Colorado. The event features two main running races: a traditional 15 km out-and-back course and a 25 km loop course, both starting and finishing at the Crested Butte Nordic Center. The 25 km loop includes significant elevation gain of nearly 4,000 feet, with scenic climbs through aspens, meadows, and rugged singletrack trails offering panoramic mountain views.

In 2025, a new 25 km mountain bike race was added, featuring a technical and challenging course ideal for training. The race atmosphere combines challenging terrain with stunning alpine scenery and limited aid stations, requiring participants to carry their own hydration.
