Event overview
Doomsday 5K is a trail race on January 1, 2026, at Cliff Cave County Park in Saint Louis, Missouri. The event is organized by Terrain Trail Runners and measures 5K with approximately 272 feet of elevation gain. Online registration closes on December 28 at 11:59 PM CT. Race day/onsite registration is available for a fee of $70; onsite registrations are cash only. Race entries include a custom finisher medal. Online entrants can choose a cotton t-shirt, a pint glass, or an opt-out to have a tree planted.
The event welcomes runners who identify as male, female, or non-binary. The organizer honors self-declared gender identity at registration; no documentation or challenges are required. Awards for top performers in male, female, and non-binary categories include a $50 credit toward a Terrain Trail Runners 2026 race. Post-race coffee and snacks are provided for runners and volunteers.
Course and policies
The course starts and finishes a short distance past the train tracks in Cliff Cave County Park. Runners begin on pavement for about 0.5 mile, follow the Spring Valley Trail Outer Loop for about 1.8 miles, then return on pavement for about 0.5 mile. Spring Valley Trail is an all-dirt trail with rolling hills, roots, and rocks; it is described as beginner friendly. The race has a two-hour cutoff.
This is a cup-free, zero waste event. Participants are asked to bring their own mug and a mess kit for post-race coffee and snacks. Race day registrations receive a custom Doomsday 5K pint that can be swapped for a shirt if sizes remain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
