Flight of the Heron 5K

Flight of the Heron 5k & 1mi is a community running event held on October 11, 2025 at the Akron Water Reclamation Facility in Akron, Ohio. The event offers a 5k Run/Walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run on a paved path through the facility, described as a family-friendly experience usually closed to the public. The first annual event takes place during the Blue Heron Homecoming, pairing racing with festival elements.

Post-race highlights include a medal and a hat at the finish, plus a Beer Garden sponsored by Missing Falls Brewery. Attendees can enjoy Blue Heron Festival snacks from The Ice Bucket Food Truck. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
