Headwaters Relay
The Headwaters Relay is a challenging three-day team adventure race held in the backcountry of Montana, starting and ending in Bozeman. Teams of 3 to 10 runners navigate unmarked exchange points using written leg descriptions, covering varied terrain with legs ranging from 1 to 6 miles. There are no aid stations, so teams must be self-supported, carrying their own food, liquids, and navigation tools.
The race limits participation to 26 teams due to Forest Service permits. Runners complete one leg per day in succession, with overall time based on cumulative leg times. The event emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and endurance in a rugged natural setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
