Event
The Iron Horse Half Marathon is a USATF-certified, point-to-point half marathon held in Washington state on August 30, 2026. The race follows sections of the Palouse to Cascade Trail and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail. The course starts at Olallie State Park and finishes at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend. The total distance is 13.1 miles with an overall elevation loss of approximately 880 feet (start around 1300 ft, finish around 400 ft).
Course and logistics
The route is almost entirely unpaved hard-packed dirt and gravel, with a few road crossings. There are five aid stations supplied with Tailwind electrolytes and GU gels, spaced about 2-3 miles apart. The event is cupless; participants are encouraged to use a handheld bottle, hydration pack, or a small reusable cup. Free gear check is available at the start line; runners must provide their own bag and gear will be transported to the finish.
Chartered shuttles run from the finish to the start on race morning, with pickup at Meadowbrook Farm parking (1711 Boalch Ave NW, North Bend, WA 98045). Packet pickup options include mailing the bib, pre-race pickup at REI Bellevue, or pickup on race morning. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers by gun time and in five-year age groups; awards must be picked up at the race. A virtual option is available with limited spots and mailed swag. Registration is non-refundable though transfers and deferrals are offered.
