Event overview
The Maple Valley Bear Run & Walk 5K takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Lake Wilderness Park in Maple Valley, WA (22500 SE 248th St). Registration opens January 11, 2026 at 12:00am PST. Event entry is listed at $35. Pre-race packet pick up is offered at Road Runner Sports in Kent on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. T-shirts are only guaranteed for those who register by May 31, 2026.
Logistics and course
The course is USATF certified. Chip timing will be used, with disposable chips placed on the back of bib numbers. Day-of packet pick up and day-of registration are available in the morning on race day; day-of registration must be completed using a personal mobile device and no on-site payments are accepted. Parking is available at Lake Wilderness Park and participants are encouraged to carpool.
Awards, rules and community benefit
Age-group awards for males and females are given based on chip time across divisions from 0-5 through 100+. First place in each age division receives a Bear Run Bear; second and third places receive Bear Run Bells. Special awards for the top three overall men and women are based on gun time. Jogging strollers are allowed on the trails; dogs are not allowed on the course except for service dogs. Water is provided at the end of the race. Proceeds benefit Tahoma High School distance running programs administered by the Tahoma Cross Country Running Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
