Event overview
The Mingus Madness 50k takes place in Prescott Valley, AZ on November 1, 2025. The event is described as a grassroots, unofficial, non-permitted, minimally supported trail race. The distance is 50K, which the organizer notes is about 32 miles with approximately 6,000 feet of elevation gain. The route uses trails on and around the Woodchute side of Mingus Mountain and is described as rugged and remote.
Course and logistics
The course will use the same route as the previous year and will include three aid stations and some post-race food; participants are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets. There is a strict cutoff before the descent down the 102 into the second aid station, at roughly mile 14. Runners not making this descent by 12:30 will be asked to take the 102 trail back to the start/finish for an 18 mile return option. There is no overall cutoff, but starting that descent by 12:30 is required to continue on the full course. A GPX file is required for race day and is provided by the organizer.
