Mount Ascutney Vertical Backyard
The Mount Ascutney Vertical Backyard is a challenging "Last Person Standing" endurance event held in Brownsville, Vermont. Participants repeatedly ascend and descend 1,209 vertical feet each hour via multiple course options, including three laps on a 403-foot t-bar path or a single lap on a longer 1,209-foot green loop. The race continues until only one runner remains, testing stamina and leg strength.
The course offers spectacular views and is largely visible from the base, making it spectator-friendly. Amenities include a heated outdoors center with bathrooms, an aid station with hot food, camping spots, and water access. The event symbolizes the ascent from sea level to Mount Everest's summit if completed for 24 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
