The Mystery Mountain Marathon & 12-Miler takes place on October 12, 2025. This is the 17th annual running of the event. Distances offered:

The event is held at Fort Mountain State Park in Chatsworth, GA. The park is about 90 miles north of Atlanta and about 50 miles southeast of Chattanooga. Registration closes on Friday, October 10. Special low pricing is available on the first day of registration; pricing increases after September 19. Entries received before September 18 have guaranteed shirt sizes. Current GUTS members receive a $5.00 discount on GUTS races.
Course and awards
The marathon route has about 5,500 feet of elevation gain. Courses traverse single track, rugged mountain bike trails, and smooth horse trails. The trails are sometimes technical and difficult and run over and around Fort Mountain. The route passes a rock wall located at the top of the mountain that was built more than 1,000 years ago. After the race there is a gathering by the lake.
Awards are given to the top three overall women and men, plus first place masters and grandmasters for women and men. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
