Niwot's Challenge
Niwot’s Challenge, the 13th annual event, takes place in Sedalia, Colorado along the South Platte River. It isn’t a race but a reckoning, a Barkley-inspired grassroots ultrarunning ordeal of secrecy and mischief. The course is unpublished and largely off-trail—a riddle of rock, bushwhack, and bruises—where navigation by map and compass is essential and aid is minimal.
Distances include a ~24-mile Burn Loop, a ~50-mile Chief’s Loop, and a ~100-mile Deity challenge. Entry is invitation-only for up to 40 participants. The experience features a dedicated online hub, “Book Settings” to place clues, and a $1,000 prize for Deity status. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
