Pigtails Run
The Pigtails Run, celebrating its 20th year in 2025, is a low-key, self-supported "Fat Ass" style race held in Maple Valley, Washington. It offers distances of 50K, marathon, and half marathon along a mostly paved trail with some dirt and gravel sections, running alongside the Cedar River and through wooded areas. The course features moderate elevation changes and is marked with pink ribbons and stakes.
Runners must be self-sufficient, as aid stations are minimal and drop bags are not allowed. The event emphasizes camaraderie and personal challenge rather than extensive support. Participants receive a pig-themed medal and can enjoy post-race pizza.
The race has a strict 2:30 PM cutoff for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
