About the race
Potomac River Run Marathon & Half, staged by the Safety and Health Foundation, takes place on the historic C&O Canal Towpath with start and finish at Fletcher’s Cove in Washington, DC. Runners choose either a full marathon or half marathon along a flat, off-road gravel route, with only about 100 meters of concrete and a short wooden footbridge. The USATF-certified course is a Boston qualifier for the full and a qualifier for major races and Olympic Trials for the halves.
Commemorating World Laughter Day, the event features scenic Potomac views, supportive aid stations, live RFID timing, finishers’ medals, and a post-race picnic in a festive, spectator-friendly atmosphere. Limited to 350 entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
