Event overview
The Resolution Run 5K and Polar Bear Dive takes place on January 1, 2026 in Seattle, WA at Magnuson Park. Events include a 5K Run/Walk with a dry option, a 5K Trip-n-Drip with an optional Polar Bear Plunge into Lake Washington, and a Kids Dash for children 10 and under. The polar plunge is located just before the finish line and plunge and dry 5K results are scored separately. About 60% of participants choose the plunge. All entries receive a long sleeve shirt and a medal is available in limited stock. Proceeds support Club Northwest, an athletics nonprofit.
Course and logistics
The course starts at the Magnuson Park Boat Launch and is mostly flat with a total elevation gain of 81 feet and one small hill at about 1.2 miles. The surface is a mix of asphalt and gravel. Pre-race packet pickup is at Super Jock n Jill Green Lake on December 30 (afternoon) and December 31 (midday). Morning-of packet pickup is available at Magnuson Park. The event offers two heated gender-specific changing tents for plunge participants. Registration pricing listed by the organizer is $40 (pre-registration until Nov 30), $45 (Dec 1-31), and $50 on race day. The finish festival includes free chili, hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee, a beer garden for ages 21 and over, and a free kids dash finish ribbon for participating children.
