Event

The Runnin' for Rescues 5K/10K is scheduled for November 22, 2025, and is organized by the Boaz Parks and Recreation Department. The event benefits Second Chance Shelter, a non-profit no-kill dog shelter that began operations in 2008 and houses over 250 dogs at a time. The course is certified and includes water stations along the route. Finisher medals will be given at the finish line and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each male and female age group will receive prizes at an awards ceremony.

Logistics

This year the race start and finish will be at the old Boaz Recreation Center, 314 N. King Street, Boaz, AL 35957, due to a paving project at the new rec center. Route maps are available online and on the event Facebook page. Entry is listed at $45 for the 5K and 10K; the price increases after November 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM CST. Participants who register by October 26, 2025 are guaranteed a shirt and medal. Packet pickup is available on November 19 at Fleet Feet Huntsville (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM), November 20 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and November 21 (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM) at the Boaz Parks & Recreation Center (400 Elizabeth Street), and on race morning at the old Boaz Rec Center. The event will be held rain or shine and refunds are not offered. Age groups run from 12 & under up to 70 & over; the race is open to ages 5–99.
