Salute the Troops 10k

Event overview

The Salute the Troops 5k & 10k takes place on November 8 at the Glenn Dale Community Center in Glenn Dale, Maryland. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is offered. The event supports the Code of Support Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides one-on-one support and resources to military members, veterans, and their families.

The course is paved and flat with a slight decline on the way out; the route is described as a straight shot. The event is chip timed and includes a finisher medal and a technical (drifit) event shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before October 29; extra shirts are ordered for later registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fees listed in the event information include a lower pre-deadline rate and higher late rates; the price increases by $5 on race morning. Race day registration is available, and packet pickup is offered at the event. Water stations are located at approximately mile markers 1.55 on the 5k, and at 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65 on the 10k; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are inside the community center. Live race results are posted on Athlinks and a QR code at the race provides immediate access to results; final results with series points are posted to the event website the Monday after the race.
