Event details

The SMT Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in New Cumberland, PA. The event is based at New Cumberland Borough Park (Front Street & Geary Ave) and offers the following distances:

  • 5K Run / Walk
  • Cranberry Challenge (challenge within the 5K)

The 5K run and walk begin and end at New Cumberland Borough Park. The Cranberry Challenge adds fitness stations along the 5K course where participants complete exercises, carry odd objects, and move weights; coaches from Chaka Crossfit will staff the stations. The Cranberry Challenge is limited to 125 participants. Walkers have a separate start line. Strollers are permitted but should position at the back of the starting chute; a ramp is available to avoid a curb on the route.

Registration, logistics, and awards

The 5K field is limited to 3,000 participants. Registration uses tiered pricing with early-bird rates through September 30, online registration closing November 20, and in-person registration available at packet pickup locations if space remains. Packet pickup dates and locations are Fleet Feet Harrisburg (Nov 24), Fleet Feet Mechanicsburg (Nov 25), and New Cumberland Fire Hall (Nov 26); packets are also available at the park on race morning. Pre-registered runners receive long-sleeved unisex shirts; sizes and availability are limited and not guaranteed after November 14.

Entry fees include electronic chip timing provided by Falcon Race Timing, post-race refreshments, and random prizes via course feathers. Overall male and female winners receive a family-sized turkey; dessert prizes are awarded to the top three in each age group. There is no awards ceremony; prize winners should check results and claim prizes at the bandstand. The event benefits Vickie's Angel Foundation, is held rain or shine, does not allow bib transfers, and discourages dogs on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
