The Algonquin 50K
The Algonquin 50K is a challenging ultramarathon held in Pocomoke River State Park, Maryland, on the Delmarva Peninsula. The mostly flat, fast course covers approximately 31 miles on 95% trail, including single-track and horse paths, with sandy sections and possible standing water adding difficulty. The race features fully stocked aid stations every 5–6 miles offering water, nutrition, snacks, and cake.
Runners face variable winter conditions such as mud, rain, snow, and ice. The event emphasizes safety with volunteer support and strict cutoff times. Finishers receive a handmade ceramic mug, and top runners earn awards.
The race promotes trail access and environmental stewardship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
