MLK Freedom Run : overview
The MLK Freedom Run is held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Phoenix at G.R. Herberger Park on East Indian School Road. The event is organized as an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day run to honor Dr. King. Distances offered include:

Race details and logistics
The event uses timed waves with a cap per wave; waves are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and smaller group waves are expected. Timing is optional and there are no timing chips; participants may track their own time with running apps or request help from coordinators. Swag is shipped directly to the US mailing address used at registration; race bibs are provided on race day and shirts are generally shipped the week of the race. Swag items listed include a running T-shirt, finisher’s towel or giveaway, finisher’s medal, a digital training pack, online results and a certificate of completion. An optional technical running shirt is available for a small upcharge. A virtual run option is available with a digital training pack and a medal issued after submitting results to the organizers. Registration fees for this event range from about $39.40 to $50.27 depending on distance. Coordinators remain on site for a limited period after the first wave.
